If you go to the emergency room because you're suicidal, you shouldn't be sent home without a follow-up appointment. That is unacceptable. New London county

I appreciate this take on mental health. The values of proper mental health seem to go unseen. We need to find better ways to tend to those who need our help.

We are seeing the consequences of mental Health services. Inappropriate incarceration, suicide and poor quality of life. Addressing mental health services conditions we can reduce the suicide rate.

We got a referral and medications from our primary care provider, were put on the wrong waiting list, moved to another waiting list and then never heard anything back for more than a year. New London County

The initial options were neither clear nor good. Trying to find a bed in a hospital was frantic and difficult…I wish there had been a wrap-around type counselor or clerk to help. New London County

In my dealings with the system, I have seen too many gaps in coverage. It's a confusing hodge-podge. Also, IMO, many of the most experienced practitioners do not take insurance; & paying out-of-pocket leaves a lot of people on the outside looking in. Even for those who can come up with the money - it's a terrible drain. And strain. New London

There was no one available for (the) immediate future. Everyone was booked for months. When one is in a mental health crisis, a two-month wait is not appropriate... There was immediate help if we went to the emergency room, but they discharge you and you have to wait months to see someone. Then the medicine prescribed can take 4-6 weeks to kick in. My kid was so depressed he was going to kill himself. And they just left him in a locked area for days, waiting. How can you do that? New Haven County

No one would take our insurance, no one had openings, no one helped us. We were totally alone.
